We’re happy to share the news David & Jelena are coming for the first time to teach in Berlin next October. They both have a profound connection to this method through years of consistent and devoted practice. David has been practicing for over 20 years and practicing under Sharath Jois’ guidance and have been teaching at his shala in Toronto for over 10 years. We’ll have daily morning Mysore-style practice guided by David and Jelena, and technique and posture workshops for each student regardless of their experience, will be able to deepen and enrich their practice.

In case of Workshop cancellation on our behalf, full workshop fee refund (tickets and transportation cost not included).In case of cancellation of your participation 30 days or more before the date of the event, 50 % refund. Cancellations less then 30 days in advance of the workshop will not be refunded.

12-3 PM Workshop: Breathing Moving System
The vinyasa system provides the defining structure for the Ashtanga practice. Vinyasa means moving/breathing system. When breath and movement are in union, our practice becomes a graceful meditation. This workshop will provide you with an in-depth look at the Tristhana method of Sadhana, and offer invaluable techniques to help you bring lightness into your practice.

12-3 PM Workshop: Hands-on Adjustments
Physical adjustments are one of the cornerstones of studying and teaching the Ashtanga tradition. In this workshop, you will study the ideas and actions for assisting some of Ashtanga’s Primary and Intermediate Series postures. This workshop is open to teachers and non-teachers who want to learn about the postures from a different perspective.

David and Jelena will lead you through Ashtanga’s Primary Series with the traditional Sanskrit count, and include some detailed instruction along the way.
12-2 PM workshop: Ashtanga’s Fundamentals (2-hours)
Take a deep and detailed look at the alignment and actions of Ashtanga’s opening sequence. Study the exact vinyasas that connect each of the postures, and learn to deepen the work and progression of your daily practice.
2.30-4.30 PM workshop: Pain Free Backbends (2-hours)
Backbends don’t have to hurt. This workshop will explore the basic alignment and actions of Ashtanga’s Primary & Intermediate Series backbends. By learning correct technique for the poses, take the pain out of backbending and allow your body to safely go deeper into the postures. This workshop is open to practitioners of all levels.

2-4 PM workshop: Jump-back & Jump-through (2-hours)
Jump-backs and jump-throughs are transitional movements that link Ashtanga’s sitting poses together. These vinyasas provide a bridge to carry our focus between asanas, and also build a purifying heat in the body that is said to boil the blood. This workshop will go over the actions and movements of the jump-back and jump-through in close detail, and provide invaluable instruction useful for all levels of practitioners.


David Robson is the director of the Ashtanga Yoga Centre of Toronto. After completing a degree in Comparative Religion, David made his first trip to Mysore, India in 2002, where he initiated studies with his teacher Sharath Jois. Since then he has returned annually to deepen and enrich his practice and teaching, and was Authorized in 2007. In addition to running his Mysore program in Toronto, David teaches workshops and retreats around the world, and he has released a popular series of instructional videos on Ashtanga called Learn To Float.
Jelena Vesić after studying ballet for 16 years, made Yoga her sole focus in 2009. She has studied with her teacher, David Robson, since 2010, and leads the evening Mysore program at Ashtanga Yoga Centre of Toronto. She co-teaches with David Robson on workshops and retreats around the world.
